Shutting the lid and the computer going into hibernate is the #1 thing I HATE about OSX.

I downloaded a program that made the computer stay on, but the problem was the screen stayed on. So your running your screen as your lid is closed.

But now that my mac runs at around 120 degrees anytime I surf the web I won't even stay on it for more than 20 minutes without closing the lid and letting it cool off. Should be fun when writing my thesis.

I'm sure your already in-the-know but check out for the server. When a connection is lost it stays up and continues doing whatever your were doing (i.e. compiling or whatnot). Then you can simply screen -r when you log back in and continue where you left off.

Yeah, I recently got a macbook...not the pro...the, um, amatuer one, I guess it would be called?

I run parallels with a virtual XP machine in it, and I also spend considerable time remote desktoping into two desktop computers at work. The whole lack of right click is a bit ridiculous -- ctrl click while in OSx, but then ctrl+shift+click in parallels and rdp is stupid. Switching back and forth is a pain.

multitouch is annoying, although I tend to use this laptop most of the time, so once I get into a mode to not accidentally drag something or click something, it is ok. It's when I use my HP laptop and then go back to my macbook that trouble breaks out.

Currently still slowly getting used to OSx. For better or worse.

I ran into the same thing when I tried to download Xcode. What is with having to login??
